The eight Argentine citizens who were transferred on February 19 from the Chinese city of Wuhan to Ukraine to complete a quarantine for the coronavirus returned in the last hours to the country and "are already in their homes," sources close to Clarin confirmed group.
All had finished their observation period "in perfect health" on Thursday and began their return to Buenos Aires on a flight that stopped in Madrid.
The eight Argentines spent two weeks in quarantine with citizens of Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Israel, Panama and El Salvador in the town of Novi Sanzhary , from where they were transferred by land to Kiev, some 350 kilometers away. They stayed there one night and left Ukraine on Friday.
Regarding the health status of Argentines, the official sources stressed that "at the end of the observation period" they would have a medical certificate issued by the Ukrainian health authorities, where their "perfect state of health" would be confirmed.
The contingent of evacuees arrived on Thursday, February 20, at Novye Sanzhari, where they had to endure violent reactions, which prompted the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Alexéi Goncharuk, to provide a security reinforcement provided by the National Guard at the health center.
The extraordinary measures were announced after groups of neighbors tried to prevent barricades and pedrades from passing the buses that transported the 72 evacuees - 27 of them foreigners, almost entirely Latin Americans - to the health center where they should remain until 5 March.
Meanwhile, the first Argentine that was infected coronavirus at the beginning of February on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which remained moored for weeks at the Yokohama port, and was admitted to a hospital in Japan , has already returned to the country with his wife .
"The couple reported that both had arrived in very good health in the country, after leaving from Japan on February 24 at night, on a flight whose ticket was provided by the cruise operator," sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported .
