(ANSA) - BUENOS AIRES, MARCH 8 - The Argentine Ministry of Health announced that a person suffering from coronavirus that had been hospitalized for several days in a hospital in Buenos Aires died yesterday afternoon. It is the first death in Argentina, which is also the first in Latin America.
In a statement it is specified that the man, Guillermo Abel Gómezdi 64 years old, had returned on 25 February from a trip to France and after three days had manifested the typical symptoms of Covid-19.
There are currently eight patients in Argentina, coronavirus infection has been confirmed. Six are in BuenosAires, one in the province of the capital and one sixth in Cordoba.
To try to contain the spread of the virus, the Argentine health authorities have asked for particular caution, and a period of self-isolation is possible, to people returning from countries at risk such as China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, Spain, France and Germany.
