On March 18, in an official statement from his relatives, it was confirmed that the veteran musician (86 years old) was diagnosed with carrying the Corona virus and was admitted to a hospital in Paris. Today (Tuesday) news of his death was published following the illness.

The world of jazz and music in general is one of the most prominent representatives of African music in the entire world.

Saxophone, composer, singer, pianist and arranger Emmanuel "Mano" Dibango was born in Cameroon in 1933 when she was still a French colony. In 1972 he released "Soul Makossa" which sold millions of copies and became an international hit. About a decade later, Michael Jackson used a line from this single in his song "Wanna Be Startin 'Somethin'" which was part of his successful "Thriller" album. Jackson later admitted the musical theft and the two reached a non-court settlement. In 2007, by the way, Rihanna also used the same line in "Don't Stop the Music".

Dibango is considered one of the pioneers of world music, and during his long career he has produced close to 40 albums, composed music for films and cultivated generations of African and European musicians. His latest album "Balade en Saxo" was published in 2014. Dibango performed in Israel in 1998 and at the 2004 Jazz Festival in Eilat. During his career, he collaborated with artists such as Pella Coty, Rebbe Hancock, Bill Laswell, Don Cherry, and Slay & Robbie. In 2019 marked 60 years of international career on the stages.
