This Thursday evening - day 10 of confinement -, the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon announced 365 additional deaths in hospital in 24 hours and 3922 new confirmed cases of contamination with coronavirus. This is a record increase in daily mortality: + 50% compared to the previous record, which dated Tuesday March 24 (240).
A total of 29,155 people have been officially infected since the start of the Covid-19 crisis. Among them, 1,696 lost their lives in a hospital establishment, including a 16-year-old girl who died on Thursday in Île-de-France. More than 13,904 people (+2,365) are also treated at the hospital, including 3,375 in intensive care (+548).
Important note: health authorities do not yet count deaths in homes for the aged. This raises the question in recent hours of the legitimacy of these daily health checks.
Note that Thursday was marked by an unprecedented medical evacuation by TGV of patients with Covid-19. In the aftermath of President Emmanuel Macron's trip to the Grand Est region, which was particularly stricken, to visit the military field hospital deployed in Mulhouse, 20 Alsatian patients were evacuated on Thursday to hospitals in the Pays-de-la-Loire, which were less saturated .
