Cleanliness is important to clean an aquarium. However, holders should not reach into the water with disinfected hands.
Wiesbaden (dpa / tmn) - If you want to change the water in an aquarium or, for example, want to clean the filters inside, you should not do this with freshly disinfected hands. This is indicated by the Central Association of Zoological Specialists (ZZF).
Because disinfectants leave chemical residues on the skin. This can have negative effects on the water values. To avoid this, it is sufficient, according to the association, to clean hands and arms in advance with clear, warm water.
Basically, larger aquariums are much easier to maintain than, for example, a small 50 liter tank. The reason: the water values are easier to keep stable in a larger space. According to ZZF, even maintenance errors such as too much food or missing a dead fish do not quickly have a dramatic impact on water quality in a large aquarium.
