A good night's sleep is not a matter of course: A good mattress is essential here. That is why Stiftung Warentest puts different mattresses to the test twice a year. This time, foam models were examined more closely. A discounter product is one step ahead.
Stiftung Warentest tests foam models: discounters are ahead - one model is convincing for all body types
A total of 15 foam mattresses were tested for various aspects:
- Lying properties
- Durability, cover
- Health and environment
- handling
- Declaration and advertising.
It turned out that good mattresses don't necessarily have to be expensive. Six of the mattresses tested received the quality rating "good" . In addition, none scored worse than "satisfactory".
Two mattresses emerged as the test winners : the Meradiso 7-zone cold foam mattress from Lidl for 100 euros and the VitSan 7-zone cold foam mattress from MFO for 247 euros. On the latter, all body types lie well on their side and back - something that only two other mattresses from previous tests have been able to do *.
When it comes to durability, most of the freshly tested mattresses * show their best side. Here the Irisette Lotus Duo from Badenia prevailed. The tests simulate usage of around eight years . Only the Schlaraffia, which according to the provider is available under different names, loses more than 25 percent of its hardness, while the sample ring even gives in by a third . The result is uncomfortable reclining, which can result in back pain.
