- The consumer advice center warns of false promises
- Here you will find the basic facts about the corona virus * and the corona news from Germany *. You can also find current case numbers in Germany here as a map *. The following recommendations for corona protective measures are currently available
Munich experts agree: It will be a while before there is a vaccine for the Coronavirus * . However, there are already those who claim that there are already effective healing methods or other remedies for the virus.
As if it were just not enough of the stress test for all people, some manufacturers also take advantage of the hardship. Therefore, the consumer advice center now warns of false promises and alleged healing methods for the corona virus. Because that could be dangerous - especially for the consumer. Homeopathic remedies in particular mislead many consumers.
Coronavirus: homeopathic globules - a false promise
At the moment, one method is making a name for itself: a homeopathic globule . Taking the globule is said to protect you from infection. The product was advertised to the citizens via a regional Brandenburg e-mail distribution list.
The advertising text for the product even provides information about how it is supposed to work: when the globules are taken, the body's organism is given the message of corona disease in a highly potentized form. Then he developed antibodies against the virus. The text goes even further into detail.
Coronavirus: warning of alleged healing methods
Because if there is actually contact with the corona pathogen, then you already have antibodies in you - then the risk of infection is low. Complete nonsense says Anett Reinke from the consumer center. Even more: it is a double danger. Because "advertising that suggests something like this is misleading."
And the second danger applies to the naturopaths or homeopaths treating them. The treatment of the virus by homeopathy even violates the Infection Protection Act. Paragraph 24 of the law states that the treatment of communicable diseases is only permitted to doctors. Fines and imprisonment are imminent for violations.
Corona virus: false promises have no limits
Another case is far more absurd. As reported by welt.de, a naturopath advertised by "looking at a disc with circles". This is said to remove the "virus information from the cells".
The consumer advice center also points out that dietary supplements do not prevent the virus from becoming infected. After all, these are just food.
