The drastic collapse of air traffic in European skies continues due to unprecedented restrictions imposed in Europe to limit the coronavirus epidemic. Yesterday, just 3,352 aircraft flew, 88% less than a year ago. "This means that there have been over 24,000 fewer flights," said Eamonn Brennan, director general of Eurocontrol, the intergovernmental organization that coordinates air traffic control at European level, on Twitter.

Ok EU Council suspended air slots - The EU will suspend at least until 24 October 2020 the airport slot time requirements that oblige airlines to use at least 80% of their take-off and landing hourly windows in order to maintain them 'next year. The derogation, proposed by the Commission to help operators to tackle the drastic drop in air traffic caused by the coronavirus crisis, has already been approved by the European Parliament and has also been adopted today by the Council. The regulation is expected to be published tomorrow in the Official Journal of the EU.
