Coronavirus and school: even more hours of lessons on TV

At the request of parents, France Télévisions is expanding its television education offer from this Monday.


Launched on March 23, the course offer on television, broadcast on France 4, France 5, France 2 and the free educational platform Lumni seems to satisfy children and adults to such an extent that they want more. The programming, which helps students to keep their skills and to revise through lessons of 45 min to 1 hour intended for everyone, from CP to Terminale, sees its grid enlarged and modified from March 30.

These are "the viewers (parents, children, teachers and educators) who have given us many reactions and their wish to have an enriched course offer," said a press release from France Télévisons. Two new hours of program will therefore now be added "to cover all classes with lectures".

The schedule of these lesson hours, prepared in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Youth, will therefore be extended. From 9 am to 10 am, lessons will start for CP and CE1, then those for primary school students - from CE2 to CM2 - will take over. The afternoon will be reserved for lessons for middle school students (on a “double level” model) and high school students: from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for 6th and 5th grade, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for 4th and 3rd grade, and at from 4 p.m. for those going to high school. The courses will now cover many subjects: French, mathematics, history-geography, science, English…

Most of these televised lessons are broadcast on France 4 and on the lumni.fr site, but in parallel, France 5, France 2 and the educational site program, at different times of the day, "La Maison Lumni, the program ", A fun educational magazine presented by Alex Goude and aimed at 8-12 year olds, who will also be enriched with new educational content. Finally, certain regional branches of France 3, such as France 3 Corsica or France 3 Brittany, for their part broadcast educational programs in the regional language or relating to cultural differences between countries.
