Good news during a time of crisis: The first Corona patient to be in serious condition in Israel, the driver of the Johnny bus, is recovering completely from the virus.

In a statement issued Monday afternoon, the Peda Furia Medical Center said: "The first hard corona patient is recovering and returning home. Johnny, the tour bus driver, has been hospitalized since March 4, 2020, and thanks to the professional and dedicated care his life has saved. He feels good and returns tonight, to his home and family.

Dr. Moshe Matan, an intensive care specialist at Peda-Furia Medical Center, said: "I am pleased to announce that today the complex and difficult corona is being treated in Israel, returning home, he is out of here smiling and feeling good. Given the situation he was in just two weeks ago, this is a great achievement for us! "

Johnny, a 38-year-old East Jerusalem resident who owns a wife and father of three 10-year-olds, two and a half months old and a seven-month-old baby, has worked as a tour bus driver for 17 years. At the beginning of the month, he contracted the Corona virus after driving a Greek pilgrimage bus from Greece, who, after returning to their country, discovered that some of them were Corona carriers.

On March 4, Johnny arrived at Peda Furia Medical Center after feeling ill and was with 39 degrees Fever for four days. Also suffered from strong headaches. Dr. Hiba Abu Ziad, who examined him, saw that he was having difficulty breathing. He was placed in an insulation room under pressure and was suspected of coronation, and the next day a positive answer came.

Despite his relatively young age (38), Johnny's condition deteriorated and he was hospitalized in serious condition. As far as he knew, he did not suffer from background illnesses, although he was used to smoking - which, according to doctors, increased the risk of his condition deteriorating.

Today, as mentioned, the hospital announced that Johnny had fully recovered from the virus and that he was discharged to his home.

Johnny told me about leaving the hospital: "The first thing I want to do now that I bring it up is to go home to see my kids. I really miss the family, they too are now in closure and are not leaving the homes. "

"I remember the day Dr. Matan woke me up. I was connected to all the appliances and pipes. I couldn't speak. I heard him ask me if I knew where I was. I couldn't answer him, at that moment I thought I had been put to sleep for a few hours. I didn't imagine it was a full week. Dr. Matan explained to me what treatment I received and what the next stage of treatment was. They were excellent ... The medical staff did not leave me for a moment, I feel that this team saved my life. "

Dr. Moshe Matan added: "In the early days Johnny was in a very bad condition and so he was put down and connected to the ventilator. Even after the defendant, his condition continued to be very difficult and he needed maximum supportive treatment for several days. As the lung condition began to improve, we gradually began weaning it from the artificial soul until it was disconnected from the ventilator seven days later. Our therapeutic success is the result of the professional and dedicated work of all the caring staff. "

Dr. Hiba Abu Ziad, director of the infection prevention unit at the medical center, said: "Johnny has been feeling good for a few days. We decided to release him to his home only after we got negative results in lab tests and proof that there is no virus in several tests. In such a situation there is no danger that he will catch the children. He is healthy and can return to normal life with his family. Hygiene and closure guidelines still need to be kept for the family. "
