A painting by Van Gogh was stolen from the Dutch Singer Laren museum. The theft took place at 3.15 am on Sunday. A glass door of the Singer Laren museum - which was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic - was broken through by thieves, while agents intervened after the burglar alarm went off. But once they got there they couldn't help but see the theft. The artist's work, "Rectory garden in Nuenen in spring", was lent by the Groninger museum, also in Holland, specifies De Telegraaf. The museum director, Jan Rudolph de Lorm, said he was "shocked and angry": "It is a beautiful and moving painting by one of our greatest painters, stolen from the community". In 1883 and 1884 Van Gogh was with his parents in Nuenen, where his father officiated in the church, depicted in the painting, as a Protestant pastor and the artist created the painting as a gift for his mother. Upon his father's death in 1885, Vincent modified the painting.
