Already a month the singer did not leave home and did not see his family • Listen: his new song "Love between the walls" deals with the loneliness experienced by music

Singer Avi Toledano has not been out of the house for four weeks and has not seen the family • Listen: Out of the distress was born a new song, "Love between the walls", which deals with the loneliness experienced during the Corona

For more than 50 years, Avi Toledano (72) has been making music, composing and performing songs, some of which have entered the Israeli music pantheon. There were years when every song of his song captured the top of the chorus parade. In recent years, it's not like that anymore, but Toledano continues to create non-stop.

Abby Toledano - love between the walls

The ongoing Corona crisis has pushed him once again to the recording studio, where he recorded a new song called Love Between the Walls. "Just yesterday I was flying like a bird that wants to fly far / Now I'm captive, between four walls / Not really sane / Alone with myself / Want my life back," say the lyrics, and how easy it is to identify with them.

"I think I broke all my highs in terms of how fast I created a song," laughs Toledano, "I only have all the time in the world. I walk around the kitchen to the living room, to the piano and to the TV."

He spends those isolated days at his home in Gan Yavne, after parting with his partner for the past six years. "Of course, this song has everything to do with parting, but it's mostly about that sense of closure, between four walls. I have three boys and three girls that I don't see, they don't come close to me because they fear. We're all afraid. For almost four weeks I haven't moved. From home, except for one day I went out to record the song in the studio. I obey instructions and don't want to jeopardize anyone, it's our personal responsibility. "

Do you communicate with family members?

"Sure. Talking on the phone, sometimes zooming, wetsap, video calls. I have five grandchildren that I see in Pace Time talks. I really miss them, it's hard and it hurts. I think of Seder and it's awful. I guess we will zoom in on the whole family, that's the only option. "

Canceled your impressions?

"Yes. In Purim, I still performed in Jerusalem, but three performances scheduled for March - canceled. April's performances are also rejected. I'd rather say 'deferred' than 'canceled.' This crisis has put me, like all artists, in a freeze. I'm in touch with the audience I'm on Facebook, talking to my followers and my friends. Just a few months ago, I appeared in the Be'er Sheva moshav. Following everything that's going on there, I sent them an encouragement video. That's the least we can do. "

We were exposed to your daughter, Leahy, who participated in the final season of "Next Star for Eurovision." Have a thought about collaboration between you?

"The truth is, Lehi has just finished filming a clip. She is signed to Roberto and is releasing a new song. My musical production was made by my son Uri, who is also responsible for most of the commercials you see on television.

What's the first thing you do when we get back to normal?

"First of all, I will hug everyone. I really miss it. I love to hug, and the connection with people is what I miss most. We are one living human tissue. Then I will show up, feel and be happy. It's every day to God. "
