Pope Francis opens the rites of Holy Week before Easter today , celebrating for the first time in streaming from a St. Peter's without faithful the Palm Sunday mass.

An extraordinary veneration of the Shroud is expected in the days of the Triduum , on live TV and on the web .

"I could watch Easter Sunday mass on my laptop, " said US President Donald Trump after Vice President Mike Pence called on "pray for health care workers" during the briefing of the White House Anticoronavirus Task Force .

"How sad it is that on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday people have to watch the mass on their laptops, on their home computers," said Trump. The tycoon has therefore admitted to having thought in recent days to loosen at national level the anticoronavirus rules, starting from those related to staying at home, to allow people to go to religious services in a period so important for believers. "But then - he added - someone said: 'we really want to risk ruining everything after we have done so well'".
