Distance teaching is no longer only recommended but becomes mandatory : the decree containing the measures in view of the closure of the school year and the state and middle school exams, which should be approved tomorrow by the Council of Ministers, would provide, between the others, also this novelty: distance teaching must be ensured, using available IT or technological tools. "In correspondence with the suspension - in fact reads the draft decree - the teaching staff still ensures the teaching services in remote mode".
For the Easter holidays, however, the distance lessons will stop, from 9 to 14 inclusive, the school calendar has not been changed at the moment, nor are there different indications from the Ministry of Education. It is without prejudice to the possibility of schools, given the autonomy, that it is possible to decide a few days of 'recovery' of the days of lessons lost in the event that there is full agreement between the various components of the school.
Meanwhile, the draft of the decree that had circulated in the past few hours would have been subject to changes. Above all, the part in which it was expected that during the state of emergency the Minister of Education was not obliged to submit the measures to the Higher Council of Public Education (CSPI) was the cause of criticism.
It is possible that the second part of the decree, which includes the role of the CSPI and the competitions, is modified or even removed. Instead, the text seems to remain valid in the part in which it sets the dead line to 18 May: if for that date you will return to class, the final exams will take place with the written Italian on 17 June and then a second test decided by the internal commissions which will be followed by the oral exam. Otherwise, the exam will take place only in oral form in remote mode. Everyone should then be admitted to the next class, but with debt recovery from September 1st.
