Sundee Rutter was a survivor of mom's cancer, had six children, who are now orphans. Know its history.

In the United States the number of deaths from coronavirus already exceeds 6,600 cases and Sundee Rutter is part of this unfortunate statistic.

His case has become popular because after his death he has left his six children orphaned, the oldest of them only 20 years old.

The woman, originally from Washington, was 42 years old and was a proud survivor of breast cancer , however, unlike the disease she beat, she could not do anything against COVID-19 . So far there is no specific treatment against the virus and people with compromised immune systems or with chronic diseases are the most vulnerable group.

Elijah Ross-Rutter , the eldest of her children, told Buzzfeed that she drove to the Providence Regional Medical Center herself after presenting with cold-like symptoms. The woman was treated, but the doctors sent her back to her home, four days later her son took her back to the hospital.

"She thought she had the flu, probably ... But how the coronavirus? It was a little difficult for us to understand how she could get it because not many people had it around here," the young man explained to the aforementioned media.

The entire family was confined to a restricted area and they were informed that Sundee had a severe picture of pneumonia, the next day the diagnosis was coronavirus.

This time the woman had to face the disease alone, the company of her older son or sister was prohibited by medical personnel. Her children communicated with her during her last days only by text messages.

On March 16, the entire family was called to meet again at the medical center as Sundee's condition was rapidly worsening.

Her six children, sister and mother of Sundee said goodbye to her through a walkie-talkie .

"I told her that I loved her ... that she shouldn't worry about the children," were the last words Elijah said to his mother before he passed away.

Elijah and his five brothers and sisters lost their father in 2012, so now they only have the support of their grandmother and aunt.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, so far there are more than 260,000 cases of COVID-19 in the country, 11,983 people recovered and 6,766 dead .

New York, New Jersey, Michigan and California are the states most affected by the disease.
