How to make the little bunnies out of yeast dough

  • Dissolve the yeast in a few tablespoons of the lukewarm milk and set it aside covered. After five to ten minutes, the mixture should throw small bubbles that show you that the yeast is active .
  • Put the flour together with the salt and sugar in a mixing bowl and mix well.
  • Then add the yeast milk, the remaining milk, the butter and the egg and knead everything into a smooth dough. Depending on your taste, you can now knead watered raisins or chocolate pieces in the yeast dough *.
  • Cover the mixing bowl with a clean tea towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour ** .
  • Then take the dough out of the bowl, shape it into a ball and divide it into eight equal pieces .
  • Turn each of these pieces into a roughly 30 cm long, evenly thick roll .
  • Cut a two centimeter piece from each roll and roll it into a ball .
  • Place the ball in the middle of the roll, fold the roll over it and then twist the ends twice . You should now have a bunny bum, a head and two ears in front of you.
  • Do the same for the other seven roles.
  • . Place the yeast bunnies on a baking sheet * lined with baking paper, cover it loosely with a tea towel and let the bunnies go out again in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
  • . Now separate two eggs, brush the bunnies with egg yolk and then sprinkle them with the hail sugar .
  • . Bake the yeast bunnies for about 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
  • * This can be on the heating or in the oven that you have switched on at the proofing level. It is also sufficient to heat the oven up to 50 degrees, switch it off and let the dough rise in the residual heat with the oven door slightly open.
