A series "Star Wars", the return of teen dancers from "High School Musical" and the talking fork of "Toy Story 4" ... Here are six creations

Disney launches this Tuesday in France Disney +, its video on demand service, after many twists and turns. The platform houses many original creations. We have selected six.

"The Mandalorian" recovers the spirit of "Star Wars"

The (very numerous) fans of "Star Wars" dreamed of it, Disney did it. The studio, vilified since 2017 by many aficionados who believe that the firm has diverted the original spirit of the saga of George Lucas with the last three parts, has managed to put everyone in agreement with ... a series. It must be said that "The Mandalorian", returning to the codes, creatures and decorations of the first "Star Wars", dazzles everyone.

In eight episodes of thirty-six minutes to one hour, the series, whose action is between episodes VI and VII of the saga, follows a Mandalorian mercenary resembling Boba Fett, character from "The empire strikes back », Whose new high-risk contract consists of capturing on a distant planet a mysterious character, Baby Yoda, a sort of miniature Yoda quickly become a mascot on social networks. The episodes, carried out at full speed, multiply the twists and turns, the action scenes crammed with visual effects and the nostalgic sequences, oscillating between science fiction and western.

It is the very creative Jon Favreau ("Iron Man", "the Lion King" ...) who is at the helm in the script and the realization, supported by other Hollywood champions like Taika Waititi ("Thor: Ragnarok "). The result, totally addictive, is the showcase for Disney +, an appeal product that has convinced millions of Americans to subscribe to the platform, and whose season 2 has already been filmed…

EDITOR'S NOTE: 4, 5/5

“The Mandalorian”, American series by Jon Favreau (2020), with Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito… 8 episodes of 36 minutes to an hour.

Let's sing with "High School Musical"

After two telefilms with global success, a film and a traveling version, Disney + relaunches the phenomenon "High School Musical" with a frenzied series for teens. We find there all the ingredients of the trilogy: nice actors, love stories, an American high school atmosphere and of course, music and songs on all floors. Funny and lively, this series of which we could only see the first two episodes will delight nostalgics. Shot in a “fake documentary” fashion, with the actors who confide in front of the camera, this series is very good in this period of confinement. Be careful, it will dance and sing in thatched cottages!

EDITOR'S NOTE: 3.5 / 5

"High School Musical, the musical: the series", by Tim Federle, with Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett ... 10 episodes of 30 to 35 minutes.

"Forky asks questions": the fork guide

But obviously a fork can speak! What world do you live in? Have you never seen "Toy Story 4"? No problem, it's time to catch up with "Fourchette ask questions", an adorable small format for children ... and adults. Tinkered with garbage, Fourchette, one of the cult characters of the Pixar stable, questions the meaning of life. Well almost. In short animated short films, he asks his friends in Andy's room some really existential questions like "what is cheese?" "," What is a friend? "Or" what is a computer? " In short, a bubble of ten succulent short films in which we find all the humor and poetry of the films of the animation studio. Written and produced by Bob Peterson, nominated for the Oscar for best screenplay for "Up there" and "The World of Nemo", these pastilles are tasted with delight.

EDITOR'S NOTE: 5/5

“Forky asks questions”, short animated short films by Bob Peterson, 10 episodes of 3 minutes.

", Former comrades who had participated in a musical comedy in their high school meet years later (between twelve and forty-four years depending on the episodes) for a unique performance of the same show. Each section is dedicated to a different group. They have five days before the curtain rises, supervised by professionals, to take up the challenge. Between reunion with former friends, sharing of memories, colorful rehearsals and adrenaline rush on stage, “Encore! »Takes us on an experience full of emotions and laughter.

Jeff Goldblum decrypts the world

He is not only the actor of "la Mouche" or "Jurassic Park". Jeff Goldblum is also a musician and is now the star of a documentary series, "The World According to Jeff Goldblum". In each episode of the first season (a second one has already been ordered), the broadcast of which started last November in the United States, the artist is interested in a subject of consumer consumption. The first two parts are for example devoted to sneakers and ice cream.

With a lot of humor - he delivers a real festival of grimaces, winks, smiles, facing the camera -, Goldblum is the star of this light and funny program which can make us think of our “C'est pas sorcier” or "E = M 6" tricolor, the immense means of National Geographic, which produces, in addition.

Once upon a time in Disney parks

The documentary series "Once upon a time there were the imaginers, the Disney visionaries" immerses the spectators in the labor of these shadow actors ("imagineers" is a contraction of the English words meaning "imagination" and "engineers"), who conceive the attractions and design of the dozen brand parks around the world. Director and producer Leslie Iwerks stages unique sequences and gives access to unpublished documents.

Told by the actress Angela Bassett in its original version, this mise en abîme will delight fans of the parks, failing to be able to get there during confinement.
