Coronavirus: Banco Bpm donates 3.5 million

(ANSA) - MILAN, APRIL 7 - Banco Bpm has decided to donate over € 2.5 million to finance porgetti intended to counter the coronavirus emergency in Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Lazio. In a note from the bank, more than one million euros deriving from the renunciation of part of the remuneration by the board of directors, statutory auditors and top management, adds to this sum.
In particular, the president Massimo Tononi has donated the entire emolument for 2020, equal to 450 thousand euros, while the directors and the mayors have waived 25% of their compensation until the end of 2020. Same percentage, inclusive of his fixed annual remuneration, for the to Giuseppe Castagna, to which they add contributions from top management.
The bank has also started fundraising among all staff for a project to help families in economic difficulty, while during the week it will launch an online dicrowdfunding platform, #SOStegnostraordinario, for 12 bank reference territorial projects.
BoD and statutory auditors, Tononi underlined, "wanted to start their mandate with concrete action to deal with the current emergency, allocating part of their emoluments to projects in the areas of reference, an essential element of our tradition, with the contribution also of the CEO and of the managerial primalinea ".
