(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 07 - Alpargatas, parent company of the Havaianas brand, known for its flip-flops, has created a network of volunteers, the "Goodwill Partnership", to help Brazil fight Covid-19. The company will produce protective equipment for healthcare professionals and make donations to the communities in greatest difficulty.
"Our goal - said Roberto Funari, president of Alpargatas - is to join forces, starting with related actions by Alpargatas Instituite and Havaianas.
Initially, we will donate 250,000 masks, over 250,000 pairs of shoes and organize activities focused on helping the communities most affected in the largest cities in the country.
We are working on several fronts and we would like to involve other companies in this initiative. "
The company has temporarily converted and adapted the Havaianas factories to make this production possible. First of all, Alpargatas will produce 250 thousand N95 masks to be donated to public health personnel in the Brazilian states of Paraiba, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, where the company's industries are located. In addition, the company will donate 18,000 pairs of shoes, suitable for hospital environments, to São Paulo health workers, made in the Havaianas factories instead of flip flops. ThroughHavaianas Alpargatas will donate 100,000 kits of essential goods, which primarily envisage hygiene products, food and Havaianas to the communities most suffering at the moment, located in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Salvador and Belo Horizonte.
