Those who are sick need a certificate of incapacity for work for their employer. The employment contract usually determines whether this is due on the first day of the illness or only after three days. What is not regulated there: The maximum number of days a sick leave may apply.

Sick leave: You can take sick leave for as long as one piece
For example, the period of sick leave should not exceed two weeks . This results from Section 5 (4) of the Disability Guidelines. In exceptional cases, a certificate of disability can also be valid for a whole month. However, this does not mean that you will have to go back to work.
If you have not fully recovered from the disease after a month, you can get sick leave again . To do this, a doctor will have to examine you again and issue a new certificate of incapacity to work. The doctor again decides on the length.
