(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 7 - "Let's stop for a minute to thank our heroes of Health". This is the appeal of WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the occasion of the World Health Day this year dedicated to eostetric nurses fighting against the coronavirus pandemic.
"Nurses and nurses do the impossible. Because of severe Covid-19, patients are isolated and the last human contact is with a nurse," said the director, stressing that "healthcare workers are taking risks every day to alleviate the suffering of others and save lives. " More than 3,000 health professionals have contracted the coronavirus and many have been killed, according to WHO data. "One of the lessons that the world must learn from the Covid-19 pandemic - says Ghebreyesus - is to invest in nurses and midwives"
