Apple has started producing clear protective visors for healthcare professionals at the rate of one million per week. This was announced by CEO Tim Cook in a video published in the past few hours on Twitter. The manager also announced that the company has procured over 20 million masks worldwide, and is working with governments to donate them to the places where it is most needed.

The protective visors, Cook explained, are the result of the collaboration between Apple employees (from designers and engineers to packaging workers) and the Chinese suppliers of the company, which led to design, produce and ship them, in flat packs of one hundred pieces. "We are coordinating with doctors and government officials in the US to deliver them where they are needed most urgently, and we hope to quickly expand distribution outside the US," he said.

Apple isn't the only hi-tech company to grapple with the production of medical devices to deal with the emergency.

Tesla's engineers have published a video on YouYube in these hours in which they explain the operation of the fans that the car manufacturer is producing, using some components of the cars. In recent weeks, CEO Elon Musk has announced the reopening of the Buffalo (New York) plant to produce fans, and has made it known that the devices will be provided free of charge to the hospitals that need them.
