Coronavirus: C8 deprecates Cyril Hanouna's special fake news party

2020-04-08T19:12:42.351Z

Announced with great fanfare on Monday, the evening dedicated to conspiracy theories linked to the epidemic has been canceled.

It was Monday afternoon at 3:28 p.m. sharp. On Twitter, the C8 channel announces the programming this Thursday of a new special evening of Balance Ton Poste, led by the channel's star host, Cyril Hanouna. On the program: the broadcast of a documentary entitled “Coronavirus: Crazy conspiracy theories”, which was to be followed by a live debate with the show's editorialists and other guests.

This broadcast was, according to our information, finally canceled this Wednesday afternoon. "I ordered this documentary less than 10 days ago and the truth is that despite the quality of the teams who are able to work miracles in record time, the documentary is simply not ready," explains Franck. Appietto, Managing Director of C8. There are not all the speakers expected for the documentary to be balanced. It will therefore be broadcast later, ”added the latter. Instead, viewers will find a replay of the magazine "Enquête Sous Haute Tension", presented by Carole Rousseau.

When Hanouna talks about deconfinement live

The show may not have come at the best time for the channel. Last Monday, two hours after the announcement of the special conspiracy theories, a sequence from the program "Ce soir chez Baba" was controversial. Cyril Hanouna announces to the televiewers having received a text presenting the dates of the coming deconfinement, region by region. "I had last minute information," he announced, adding that he did not know if it was "bacon or pig". This "text" quoted by the host actually took up the dates mentioned in a fake deconfinement card that was circulating on social networks.

The relay of this false information by the host, live and in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers, had annoyed even within the executive. "It's nonsense," said a member of the government on Monday evening. Among the Prime Minister's services, we also wanted to recall that neither the elements contained in the card, nor those provided by Cyril Hanouna were true.

The CSA seized

Sufficient to establish a link with the cancellation of Thursday evening? On social networks, many Internet users have expressed their regret at such a highlighting of unverified information, on a subject as sensitive as the containment measures that the French must respect for a little over three weeks. Some have gone so far as to seize the Superior council of audio-visual, so that the authority deals with the subject.

When contacted, the CSA indicates that it has in fact been seized. As Le Figaro writes, an instruction will therefore be opened very soon, in order to determine whether the debate on confinement has been conducted with sufficient caution. In itself, the instruction is not, however, a surprise since it is almost automatic as soon as the authority is thus seized. The decision of the CSA could intervene in the weeks to come.
