(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 8 - Royal Philips has announced the introduction of a solution that can help general practitioners and healthcare facilities manage the increased flow of patients resulting from the Covid-19 epidemic.
"This is a solution - reads a press release - it facilitates the use of online screening, follow-up questionnaires and monitoring with external call centers. The main purpose is to prevent unnecessary visits to general practitioners and hospitals and to support the remote support of the vast majority of Covid-19 patients who are in quarantine at home. "
The company explains that, as a first step, patients complete an online questionnaire at home. Based on the results, thecaregiver can allow the online solution to assign patients to a risk class and take appropriate action. If necessary, patients can be followed up through automated follow-up questionnaires. Patients with a high risk score are called by a call center for further information. If the operators of the latter determine that further investigation is necessary, the patient is referred to the family doctor, who can then provide the necessary assistance or send them to the hospital. Although the questionnaire is intended to support healthcare workers, it is specified that it is not to be considered a substitute for regular or emergency care.
Groene Hart Hospital in Gouda, the Netherlands, is one of the healthcare facilities that has not only already started using the Covid-19 screening solution, but has also contributed to its development. Philips announces that this remote assistance solution is also available in Italy, where the company is currently working to bring advanced and interactive remote assistance solutions, already part of the Philips portfolio in other markets, during this year.
