The investigating judge in charge of the file on Wednesday April 1 took an order for the statutory release of MHD, which had been challenged by an interim detention of the Paris prosecutor's office. The investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the investigating judge on Wednesday and decided to keep the singer in detention, the judicial source said.

The self-proclaimed inventor of the “afro-trap”, a mixture of rap and African music, known in particular for a hit to the glory of the PSG, has been in pre-trial detention since January 17, 2019, following his indictment for "intentional homicide". He disputes any participation in the facts, which occurred in July 2018. His lawyer, Me Elise Arfi, had told AFP on March 27, that the rapper had been tested positive for Covid-19. On Wednesday, she told AFP that "he was very sick, now it is true that he is rather near the end, but you never really know with this disease" .

We will not give up, we will file a request again.

She called the decision of the court of appeal "shocking" when MHD "is ill, has all the guarantees of representation, had a removal order" and was therefore, according to her, fit to go out. "We are not going to give up, we will file a request again, " she said, while a previous request for release had already been refused by the investigative chamber of the court of d call from Paris on March 12.
