ROME - The Directorate General for the Sea and the Coasts of the Ministry of the Environment has issued a decree addressed to the managing bodies of the 26 marine protected areas to anticipate, considering the current moment of emergency linked to Covid 19, a first tranche of the annual allocation of ordinary resources. The resources assigned to each Marine Protected Area have been calculated as 50% of the quota assigned in 2019, for a total of over 1.8 million euros.
An operation aimed at guaranteeing, in advance of a few months, the financial flows necessary for the correct functioning of the marine protected areas, given the prolongation of the ongoing health emergency and taking into account the needs represented by Federparchi at the end of the environment March.
In order to speed up the liquidation of resources to the managing Bodies, the provision for the transfer of the first tranche of the 2020 allotment quota was therefore prepared. In this way, the managing Bodies will be able to guarantee the functioning of the protected marine area, coping immediately any lower own income deriving from the current emergency situation.
