And chooses to address, this week, amateur musicians. From Thursday, everyone is invited to connect to the France Musique YouTube channel, in order to consult the online tutorials to guide, musicians by musician, the budding musicians in learning Waltz No. 2 of Shostakovich. Thursday April 16 at 7 p.m., on this same channel, all apprentice musicians will be able to play the waltz with the orchestra, from their living room. They are invited to film themselves playing, then send their video by email to fabien.mezzafonte@radiofrance.com. If the initiative is reminiscent of the one that the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra has also just put online around Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, it is part of a vast policy of work with amateur musicians, carried out on Radio France for several years. And in particular since the creation of Viva l'Orchestra in 2012. This annual event, which sees some 130 amateur musicians of all ages and all levels join the musicians of the National Orchestra for a concert in June. Since the rehearsals had to be interrupted, Radio France had the idea of these video tutorials in order to allow amateurs to continue working at home, in case the concert of June 21 initially planned for the Radio France auditorium could always take place. But wished to extend the device to all the amateurs in containment who wished it.

For its part, the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra is also launching today a series of tutorials for middle and high school students, in the wake of its action with the School Orchestras network (which has some 37,000 children participating in France). Children are invited to grab a great classic theme and post their performance on social networks. "We do everything we can to maintain a link between the children, their teachers and their instruments," explains Marianne Blayau, general delegate of the school orchestra. So that the practice of the instrument becomes one of their daily pleasures. In addition to what their instrument teachers offer them, we have imagined offering tutorials made by professional artists to motivate children and allow them to work on small melodies that they can play with their family or on their balcony.
