(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 10 - Over five million calls to 113, one every ten minutes, 823,453 interventions in a year, that is to say 2,256 per day, 94 per hour. And, again, over 4.4 million controlled persons, of whom 73 thousand reported and 15,204 arrested. These are the numbers of the 2019 activity of the Police which today turns 168, an anniversary without parties and ceremonies due to the quarantine imposed on all Italians for the coronavirus but which, perhaps for this reason, assumes an even more important symbolic value. "You represent a garrison to guarantee everyone and everyone's freedom," says Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese while Chief FrancoGabrielli - in the message sent to all men and women who are also guaranteeing the controls and safety of all the others - underlines how in a moment in which the country lives a "sense of disorientation", the policemen are "companions alongside the citizens, in what promises to be a marathon, with long climbs".
