ROME - Over 6 million Italians will have to give up the Easter lunch at the restaurant, but also the custom of buying some special Easter traditional dishes to be consumed at home. The national rules for the ongoing health emergency prohibit the takeaway service only for Public Exercises. Yet 8 out of 10 Italians would have liked to order traditional Easter dishes in their trusted restaurant. This is what emerges from an investigation by the Centro Studi Fipe, the Italian Federation of Public Exercises, in specifying that the activities of pastry shops, trips out of town, traditional lunches in restaurants have been suspended, which has also been prevented from selling takeaway; a service allowed, however, for similar commercial activities.
An unusual Easter also for restaurants that, due to the lockdown, see their businesses closed with an economic damage that for the days of Easter and Easter Monday alone is quantifiable at least 650 million euros. The only alternative remains delivery, Fipe points out, but only 14.5% of the restaurants are equipped for this service, which is why the offer will not be able to meet the demand.
