Difficult, even impossible, to organize a gala dinner with its splendor, its gaiety, its crowd coming from the four corners of the world of art, in the terrible context of the pandemic which embraces the planet of its procession of misfortunes. The traditional gala dinner organized by the Friends of the Pompidou Center for the benefit of the collections of the National Museum of Modern Art (MNAM) should have been held on Tuesday March 31 at the heart of the museum of Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. Confinement requires, it was initially postponed to Tuesday, June 23. Since this postponement, the world, and especially America, have been hit hard. Summer has already darkened. The very idea of a gala dinner has vanished, out of respect for the victims of the health crisis, for the economic consequences it entails and which artists pay, too, at a high price.
