Britain's Songlines magazine, which has been celebrating the world music scene for more than 20 years, announced on Thursday the four finalists for the 2020 Artist of the Year Award, including Israeli uncle Tessa. The nomination was awarded to Tessa following the success of his album El Hajar, the third of his "Uncle Tessa and the Kuwaiti" project. Tessa is the first Israeli to be awarded the prestigious award in its current format.

Tessa's international career has skyrocketed in recent years with performances on huge stages at the most prestigious festivals in Europe and the United States. In 2014, he performed at the United Nations as part of an event organized by the Israeli delegation to Jews expelled from Arab countries. In 2017, he joined the tour of the Radiohead Band, which selected Tessa as the show's opening for the US Stadium column.

Like his predecessors, his latest album, "Kuwait," which returned in third to the music written and performed by his late grandfather and brother, Saleh and Daoud al-Kuwait, which is to this day the pillars of classical Arabic music in Iraq, has received much criticism and has been widely accepted in many countries of the world.

The winners of the award will be announced at the magazine revival ceremony in November for the UK.
