Bluetooth platform and interoperability between operating systems (ANSA)

Google and Apple are collaborating in an unprecedented way on a contagion tracking project that can help governments reduce the spread of coronavirus. The two companies announce it in a joint press release. In May they will make available tools (API) for developers and companies that are designing apps for all world institutions, which will allow "interoperability between Android and iOS devices". While "in the coming months" they will make available a 'contact tracing' platform based on Bluetooth technology giving "utmost importance to users' privacy, transparency and consent".

To help public health officials slow the spread of # COVID19, Google & @Apple are working on a contact tracing approach designed with strong controls and protections for user privacy. @tim_cook and I are committed to working together on these efforts.https: //t.co/T0j88YBcFu

Contact tracing can help slow the spread of COVID-19 and can be done without compromising user privacy. We're working with @sundarpichai & @Google to help health officials harness Bluetooth technology in a way that also respects transparency & consent. https://t.co/94XlbmaGZV

The API, application programming interfaces, will help the apps developed by governments to allow contact tracing by making the two different operating systems of the companies (Google Android and Apple iOS) talk to each other. While the "wider platform based on Bluetooth technology, it is a more solid solution than the API and would allow the participation of a greater number of people, on a voluntary basis, as well as allowing interaction with a wider set of apps and health authorities Government, privacy, transparency and consensus are of utmost importance in this project and we will build this functionality by consulting with the various stakeholders.
