(ANSA) - PARIS, APRIL 12 - An operation of unprecedented size for the French army, which is putting 1,900 sailors of the nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in isolation, just arrived in the port of Toulon - south of France - with 50 Covid-19 cases discovered between the crew.
The ship, which was sailing in the Atlantic, had to shorten its journey. The entire crew will be boarded and the first groups of sailors have already taken their seats on buses with strict safety measures in order to avoid further contamination. On board, according to the latest information, the state of health of the 50 contaminated had not been so far a concern but all 1,700 of the "Charlesde Gaulle" will now be subjected to a buffer together with the 200 of the frigate that accompanied the aircraft carrier. All will remain in isolation, without contact with family members, for 14 days in the region's military zones.
