In a "message to the Muslims of France", the French Council for Muslim Worship (CFCM), a body created in 2003 and which helps coordinate Muslim events in France, has just given some advice for the good performance of Ramadan 2020.
Thus, if the government has not formally ordered the closure of places of worship but simply prohibited the gatherings of more than 20 people inside, the CFCM enjoins their officials to "keep them closed". And he "incites the faithful to perform daily prayers at home", seeing therein the "only responsible attitude and in conformity with the principles and values of (religion) in this context of epidemic".
Everyone can fast as they see fit
Regarding fasting, it is "not directly affected" by Covid-19, believes the CFCM, like all religious leaders: everyone can fast as they see fit.
Finally, for the Tarawih prayers, that is to say the evening prayers during the Ramadan period, which, traditionally are done collectively in mosques, here again, the CFCM judges it "desirable" that they be performed at home - even if the mosques would be open.
