Tenerife's María José Álvarez was speaking on WhatsApp this Monday with her friends. They commented on some messages of rejection to hospital and supermarket workers that had been spread on social networks and in which some neighbors asked them to find another place to live for fear of getting covid-19. In Álvarez's WhatsApp group there is a nurse and a doctor who, as Verne herself tells by telephone, "felt very hurt" when seeing the photos on these posters.
Álvarez explains that "his blood boiled" and decided to write a message of support to those who have to work "and they are risking it every day." He hung his poster in the elevator and also on his Facebook account. His photo has been shared more than 150,000 times in less than two days on this social network, where he adds some 12,000 comments that applaud Álvarez's initiative and the work of these workers. Furthermore, the message is also being shared on WhatsApp.
His message is not only addressed to doctors, but explicitly mentions "nurses, assistants, security guards, supermarket cashiers, drivers, police, firefighters, civil guards ...". He appreciates their work and adds that "half of us would not have the courage to do what you do every day while the rest of us are safe at home". He also asks if they can help him "in something to make his overload more bearable."
Álvarez explains that there are two hospital toilets in her building and she had heard comments about it, for example, "if they touch the handrail." They are conversations that on the landing and in the neighbors' patio (“this building is very old and you can hear everything”), but no one had left any signs. In fact, the one who leaves posters is her, but positive: apart from this one defending the workers, she had recently hung two others giving encouragement to her neighbors. These days she is also confined, teleworking for Aspronte, an association that cares for people with disabilities.
In Álvarez's opinion, the response his message has received shows that the work of these workers is seen in a mostly positive way. After all, the daily applause at 8:00 pm was organized precisely to thank the work of the restrooms. The posters against them that have been published these days "were few, but they spread a lot and that does a lot of harm", so he is happy to see that the positive messages also go far. And close: he says that his sanitary neighbors have thanked him for the gesture.

To our working neighbors. We are your neighbors and we want to ask you for the good of all:
- Do not lose heart because our health, our food, our elders are in your hands ...
- Do not forget that for us you are a pride, that half of us would not have the courage to do what you do every day while the rest of us are safe at home.
- That you let us know if we can help you with something to make your overload more bearable.
And finally, to all those who repudiate coexistence with doctors, nurses, assistants, orderlies, supermarket cashiers, drivers, police, firefighters, civil guards, etc. etc ... Remind them that there is no worse disease than not having a heart.
