And the Germans apparently take that literally, whether as a couple or single. While the virus hits many industries hard, the domestic providers of sex toys and condoms are increasing. You don't need to be an expert to analyze this: more time, having to stay at home and no dates could be reasons enough.

Order numbers have doubled in parallel with the appearance of the virus, reports the Bielefeld online retailer Eis.de. And even increased with the entry into force of various protection regulations of the federal states. April 3 was the strongest sales day in the company's history, the company said. Since the beginning of the exit restrictions, sales of solo sex items such as masturbators for men and pressure wave vibrators for women in Bavaria have increased by 300 percent.

The product is now sold out, replenishments will only be available in six weeks at the latest.
Quarantine as a business model: online shops benefit from the corona crisis
In the period at the end of March / beginning of April, Funfactory, a Bremen-based manufacturer of sex toys, was able to sense a virtually daily increase in demand with 66 percent more online sales than in the previous year, spokeswoman Kristy Stahlberg said. The Funactory website had over 40 percent more visits in the last week of March.
"Especially in times of isolation and spatial separation, toys are absolute bestsellers that work over long distances," reports Lina Gralka, fire expert at Amorelie of the Frankfurter Rundschau. Amorelie is currently registering a 50 percent increase in this category. The vibrator Lush 2.0, for example, works via an app and can be controlled by partners over a very long distance.

“Mastering challenges together is also important for many couples during the stay-home situation,” says Gralka. There are different sets and boxes that can provide variety in everyday sex. This category is currently experiencing an increase of 65 percent.
There are also numerous opportunities for singles to integrate sex in times of social distancing and not to feel alone, says Gralka. "Masturbation can counteract this." And can help clear your head. A positive side effect of sex and especially of orgasm is that hormones are released that make you happy and reduce stress.
Corona crisis winners: Significantly more orders from condom manufacturers
Not only toys, but also condoms are currently coveted above average. At Eis.de, the demand for the inexpensive 100-packs was formally exploding. "Customers access this five times more often." Therefore, the sale of these packs was limited to one per household.
The condom manufacturer Ritex from Bielefeld also records significantly more sales. The demand for his condoms almost doubled in March compared to the same period last year, says managing director Robert Richter. The managing director emphasizes that supplies will be safe for the foreseeable future. The goods are produced exclusively in Germany and are therefore only dependent on the international supply chains to a limited extent.
