Her mother's story is heartbreaking. Silvina Pereyra recounted every day on her Facebook account each medical report of her daughter, Pamela Nieto , until Monday, April 20, when after spending a week hospitalized in a hospital in the capital of Córdoba, she died.

Now he explained what the ordeal they faced in La Falda, where the family lives, was like so that they would attend to the 24-year-old teacher. According to the complaint, since the condition was fever, vomiting, and diarrhea but did not include other symptoms compatible with COVID-19 (sore throat and / or head and / or difficulty breathing), they told him not to return if he did not have coronavirus .

The problems for Pamela, an immunosuppressed patient, began on Saturday, April 4, when she arrived with vomiting and a 38-degree fever to the guard at the municipal hospital in La Falda. The doctor who treated her told her to continue with reliverán (a medicine for nausea) and recommended paracetamol for fever. " But he told her it was not a coronovirus. Do not come back if she did not have a coronavirus, " recalled Diego Nieto, his father, in El Doce.

The next day, the 24-year-old teacher's condition worsened and they returned to the local hospital. A new doctor attended her and, without checking her, told her it was a liver problem. At the mother's complaint, they applied a serum but the doctor refused to order blood tests and again they sent her home.

On Monday 6, diarrhea was added to the table. They went to the same hospital, due to the proximity and the impossibility of moving to the capital in the midst of the quarantine, and the doctor who reviewed her also did not order blood tests because the patient had undergone a study on March 4, according to her report. mother. The diagnosis that day was gastroenteritis .

They waited those 48 hours recommended by the specialist. But he never improved and began to lose his hearing. Two days later, finally, the doctor who received her in the hospital as soon as he saw her did the laboratory. "She told me 'the tests are very bad and I have to transfer her, because we need more complexity' and they took us to the Hospital Transito Cáceres de Allende. She was in an induced coma and connected to the automatic respirator. She never returned," recalled her mother in El Twelve.

On April 14, six days before Pamela's death, Silvina wrote on her Facebook account: "As a child she lost her kidney function due to an autoimmune disease, three years ago her father donated a kidney to her. Today she is hospitalized in the Hospital Transito Cáceres de Allende with a severe infectious picture in ventilatory assistance and a serious coagulation disorder, which is why it presents multiple bleeding, requiring high amounts of transfusion of red blood cells, plasma and platelets. Thanks to the efforts of doctors and Hemotherapists managed to get it, but it still needs and the reserves are depleted. "

Her following messages only asked for prayers for her daughter until the 20th she announced the death of Pamela: "With all the pain in the world and a broken heart, we report that PAME left us. Fly high, daughter, we love you and we will love you forever."

Pamela Nieto's mom's post on her Facebook.

"The doctor who treated her that Wednesday, who asked for the transfer, apologized to us for the poor care of the previous days. I took my daughter for tests and they returned her to me in a drawer, " said her father.

For his part, Lucas Viotto, the director of the La Falda health center, indicated that an "internal investigation" had begun and reported that he was the one who ordered the referral to a Cordoba hospital. "There were no beds in the Córdoba Hospital and, after several calls, we were able to get a place in Tránsito Cáceres de Allende," he said. And he argued that "the experienced doctors who attended the girl on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 said that there was no need to request studies because the young woman was stable, as the hospital's medical record indicates."
