The go-ahead for the capital increase operation of Bper Banca aimed at financing the purchase of a package of 400/500 branches that Intesa Sanpaolo will divest if the oops on Ubi were successful. The operation was approved "by a very large majority" by the shareholders' meeting (with 97.1% of the share capital present at the meeting, announces the CEO of Bper, Alessandro Vandelli, expressing satisfaction with the approval " almost plebiscite "of the operation and underlining that 2019" was an extraordinary year, in which we have finalized operations at stake for some time ".
On the capital increase, "we hoped for a broad and widespread adhesion and it did, because alongside our reference shareholders also by the shareholders and institutional investors there was adherence to the resolution". Despite the complexity of the period, given by the Coronavirus emergency, the Emilian bank remains convinced "of the goodness of the operation", which continues according to schedule, says Vandelli, confirming its intention to launch the increase "after the summer" . "I think it is almost a duty to look not at the current situation, but also at our ability as people, companies and banks to recover and overcome such a difficult moment for our country," says Vandelli, ensuring that Bper and Intesa are not thinking of a postponement of the transaction on Ubi Banca. "We are working on the various activities that we are carrying out with the ECB, Consob, the Antitrust Authority to move forward with our program, hoping that things will go better in the second half of the year, with effects that can also reverberate on the "markets.
For Bper it is also the day of the strengthening of the partnership with Unipolsai in bancassurance. The two groups have signed a distribution agreement with which they introduce a new operating model called 'Assurbanca', through which Unipolsai agencies will be able to promote the sale of banking products to both private individuals and companies with up to 10 million in turnover. The agreement will allow significant synergies for B to be quantified as a contribution to the acquisition of over 200,000 new customers and about 40,000 insured companies. The bank branches will be able to promote the sale of UnipolSai insurance products to their customers in the corporate segment, in addition to the Arca Assicurazioni catalog. "We are very satisfied with the completion of this distribution agreement, which is an absolute novelty in the Italian banking and insurance landscape," comments Vandelli. The agreement reached, he explains, "further improves the operational effectiveness of the Bper Group in a strategic sector for our business model".
