  • The comedy series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is available on Netflix and Prime Video , among others .
  • Only Amazon offers the latest episodes.
  • An episode of season 7 was particularly popular because of a film allusion.

The American series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" may have one of the most loyal fan communities that other series makers can only dream of. The "Parks and Recreation" makers' sitcom was originally supposed to end after season 5. However, protests by viewers against the removal led to the series being extended by a 6th, 7th and 8th season.

Season 7 is currently on the American channel NBC . German fans, on the other hand, can watch the latest episodes on Prime Video *, while Netflix only provides the first five seasons.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine": Sitcom contains several allusions to games, films and series

As with many other sitcoms *, the makers of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" occasionally incorporate one or the other film, series or gaming reference into the storyline. For example,  Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) tends to get too involved in the video game "Mario Party" because he simply cannot defeat Wario.

Most of the time, however, are innuendos that are only discussed for a few seconds. The 12th episode of season 7, on the other hand, can be seen as a tribute to a popular film series over its entire term .

In the episode, the investigators have to deal with a kidnapper who kidnapped Captain Holts (Andre Braugher) dog Cheddar . The pet owner himself is devoting himself to this case more emotionally than ever before to find his beloved four-legged friend alive again.

Did you recognize it "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" episode is a nod to this film series

Does this course of action seem familiar to you? Admittedly, it is somewhat modified compared to the films to which it refers. Nevertheless, it is a clear allusion to the "John Wick" series with actor Keanu Reeves . In the successful films, the protagonist's dog is murdered by burglars, whereupon Wick embarks on a merciless campaign of revenge.

Cheddar survives in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" , but Captain Holt is not afraid to save his pet either. He arrests the kidnapper after a spectacular chase. This makes the episode one of the most action-packed episodes of the sitcom.
