Chelsea exercised its option and extended Olivier Giroud's contract by one year - until June 2021. The possibility for Inter to secure the French striker therefore goes away. Arriving at Chelsea in the winter of 2018, Giroud was on the verge of leaving Abrahmovic's club already last year. With 39 goals in 97 appearances, Giroud is the third-ever French national team scorer behind Michel Platini (41 goals) and Thierry Henry (51).
