(ANSA) - BEIJING, APRIL 27 - China has denied the accusations of being a source of disinformation about the coronavirus, claiming to be "a victim of disinformation and not a promoter". This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, who was denied an EU report in which he stressed that there are "significant evidences" of actions carried out on social media by Beijing undercover. "China is opposed to the creation and dissemination of misinformation by any person and organization," added Geng.
The report, edited by the arm of EU foreign policy, has identified in the work of players supported by governments, such as China and Russia, the responsibility for the spread of fake news about the virus. The New York Times also reported alleged pressure from Chinese officials on Brussels to 'correct' and file the charges that would otherwise have led to Beijing's "severe irritation" resulting in retaliation.
