(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, APRIL 29 - "Urgently" amend the European regulation on passenger rights to allow airlines to issue vouchers instead of cash refunds, so as to "preserve the aviation market beyond the crisis caused by the Covid pandemic- 19 ". This was the request made by 12 countries to the European Commission in a letter issued in conjunction with the videoconference meeting of the European transport ministers. The signatory countries of the letter are Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, countries Netherlands, Poland and Portugal. Due to the European legislation on passenger rights and the obligation - upon request by passengers - to reimburse tickets for canceled flights in cash, the airlines "are in a difficult situation where they face serious problems of liquidity", reads the letter.
