Could you calculate how high the table is where the cat and turtle sit?

Could you calculate how high the table is where the cat and turtle sit?

There is an equation option - or you can choose the visual method (using a pen and paper or in front of your mind).

a) The calculation method:

Both pictures (right and left) basically represent equations:

  • Cat + table - turtle = 170 cm
  • Turtle + table - cat = 130 cm

The equations can be added up mathematically - this is how it looks:

  • (Cat + table - turtle) + (turtle + table - cat) = 170 cm + 130 cm

Since the two cats have different signs (+ -), they cancel each other out. It is the same with turtles. So in the end there is only one thing left:

  • Table + table = 300 cm

The rest is easy to calculate, as genialetricks.de calculates: If 2 tables are 300 cm high, then 1 table is 150 cm high.

So the answer is 150 cm.

b) The visual method:

You can almost put the two pictures on top of each other. The distance between the two turtle shells is now exactly 300 cm. If you move this distance down by a turtle height, you can see that the 300 cm are just as high as 2 tables.

The rest is simple: 1 table is 150 cm high .

Here it goes back to the riddle.
