Coronavirus: "What is a compelling family motive?"

2020-05-01T10:23:37.924Z

From May 11, it will be prohibited to travel over a distance of more than 100 km, except in the case of family or professional reasons.

Every day, Le Parisien is mobilized to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today we are interested in the questioning of Morgana, who asks us which family motives will allow us to move far during the deconfinement.

From May 11, travel over a distance of more than 100 km will only be possible for a “compelling reason”, whether personal or professional. In the category of compelling family reasons, there is in particular the case of an individual who should "go and take care of a loved one who is fragile", government spokesperson Sibeth Ndiaye said on April 29 on CNews, without providing further details.

We are moving to a more flexible travel regime. It will be possible to move within a radius of 100km around his home, but our objective remains to avoid intermingling of the population. Travel between regions and between departments should be limited. pic.twitter.com/1uybnplLq4

Contacted by Le Parisien this Thursday, April 30, via its instant chat platform, the national police replied that it was “travel the necessity of which cannot be questioned (injuries of a loved one, accompanying a person vulnerable or not autonomous, health, death, house in danger…) ”.

On the other hand, going to visit his companion or his companion, whom we would not have seen from the start confinement, "is not considered to be a compelling family motive", adds the national police, adding that " specific guidelines on modalities ”are expected soon.

Until then, these reasons, which are not written down anywhere in the law, leave law enforcement officials a considerable margin of interpretation.
