The threshold of people recovered from coronavirus worldwide has exceeded one million today: this is what emerges from the updated count published by Johns Hopkins University.
According to data collected by the American university, the recovered are now 1,014,809, while the dead are 233,405 compared to a total of 3,257,520 cases.

In the US, on the other hand, there are 63 thousand dead: yesterday, 2,053 were recorded on the day alone. 153,947 people were healed.

Austria extended the stop to trains and flights to and from Italy until 22 May. This is stipulated by an order of the Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober (Verdi).

CHINA - 60% of the new cases of coronavirus detected in China in April did not show any symptoms of the disease at the time of testing: this is what emerges from an analysis of the Financial Times published today in the online edition of the British newspaper. The finding, based on the most comprehensive pandemic data that the Chinese government has begun to publish since early April, could make the work of governments worldwide more complex in easing the restrictions so far imposed in the fight against the virus. The result of the study, comments the newspaper, indicates that a large number of people probably circulate undisturbed in the community spreading the coronavirus without knowing it. And this worries the health authorities because according to experts, carriers are more infectious in the pre-symptomatic phase of the disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) hopes to be "invited" to participate in the investigation by the Chinese authorities on the origin of the coronavirus. WHO has announced it itself. "The WHO would like to work with international partners and, at the invitation of the Chinese government, would like to participate in the investigation into the animal origin" of the virus, said the organization's spokesman, Tarik Jasare.

JAPAN - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe intends to prolong the state of emergency by one month after hearing the opinion of the government-appointed commission of experts on the management of the coronavirus pandemic. Abe himself said this, speaking to the press, explaining that a final decision will be announced on Monday at a press conference. The premier also added that he had given instructions to the Minister for Economic Development, Yasutoshi Nishimura, with the aim of coordinating the necessary measures for the extension of the state of emergency of a period of about 30 days starting from the first deadline of May 6 .

SPAIN - Spain has recorded less than 300 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours for the second consecutive day: this is what emerges from the data communicated by the government and published by the newspaper El Pais. In the last 24 hours the virus has killed 281 people in the country, 13 more than the 268 of the previous day but still below the threshold of 300. The total number of deaths thus rises to 24,824, against 215,216 cases. So far almost 115,000 have been healed.
