Coronavirus in France: 218 new deaths, 24,594 deaths since the start of the epidemic

This Friday, 3 878 patients are still hospitalized in intensive care, according to the Directorate General of Health.


A month and a half after the start of confinement, France deplores 24,594 coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the coronavirus epidemic. Among these deceased persons, 15,369 died in hospitals and 9,225 in social and medico-social establishments, including nursing homes (Ehpad).

For the past 24 hours, the authorities have announced the death of an additional 218 people in France, including 125 in hospitals and 93 in social and medico-social establishments.

A total of 25,887 patients remain hospitalized in the country due to Covid-19 infection. These are 396 fewer patients registered during the past day.

Some 3,878 people are also still in intensive care after being infected with SARS-CoV-2. Or 141 fewer cases than the day before. It has been almost three weeks since the slow decline began in this area.
