The host of France 2 hosts "The Grand Show of humor", this Saturday, and revisits 40 years of cult sketches. He tells us about his confinement

Confined in Provence, from where he answers us by phone, Michel Drucker hears sewing machines “crackling”…. Her daughter and granddaughter make masks. To “resist” with laughter, the 77-year-old host hosts this Saturday May 2 at 9 pm “The Great Humor Show” on France 2. The one who dreamed of being a doctor tells us about his confinement and announces the return of “ Strongly Sunday ”on May 24.

Do you offer a panorama of the best sketches as a remedy for gloom?

MICHEL DRUCKER. In this anxiety-provoking period, France 2, the producer Franck Saurat and I play the laughter card, with 2h30 of talents of humor, from Thierry Le Luron to Florence Foresti, from Les Inconnus to Gad Elmaleh. There will be the best sketches for 40 years, “La Réunion de chantier” by Muriel Robin or “La Bouchère” by Anne Roumanoff!

You who are hypochondriac, can you laugh during this period?

I am not more than usual, since I do medical examinations constantly and I already washed my hands four times a day! I laugh at the creativity of social networks, especially Franck Dubosc. Or the new badge from France 2, "Help, hello! »I also proposed to the chain to launch" Strongly Sunday "on laughter, from May 24.

Are you going back to Studio Gabriel?

Yes, on May 11, to record numbers broadcast all summer. I will be alone, without an audience, respecting health conditions, one-on-one with a humor star to revisit his career. I do not exclude that part of the interview takes place with a mask, it would be funny! Surprise: the "Bodins" will be revealed for the first time in civilian clothes.

How is your confinement going?

I take care of others. I have a strong relationship with seniors. Three times a week, I send a video on the Facebook page "Stop isolation" to the 7,500 nursing homes in France. I tell them the story of my animals: my dog is a landmark for viewers! I painted their portrait of Belmondo, paid homage to Christophe. And talked about Line Renaud, Hugues Aufray, to show them that even a senior can be very successful!

Hello everyone, 👋🏼➡️ Michel Drucker our godfather talks to us today about great artists who, at 90, are as active as creative like Line Renaud, Charles Dumont, Marcel Amont, Michel Bouquet. 📕 He also talks to us about his reading of the moment which allowed him to discover the life of people who live in nursing homes and the staff who accompany them. "Come to my house, I live in an Ehpad". 🙏🏼 Thank you Michel for your presence, your support. 🤝 Together!

Are you with your family?

Yes, with my daughter Stéphanie and my granddaughter Rebecca. They have transformed a room in the house into a sewing workshop and are making masks for the inhabitants of the village where we are, in the Alpilles. I exercise, do a bit of cycling with a mask and gloves, and I have watched a lot of TV! I discovered Netflix, the “Unorthodox” series upset me. But also Skype, Zoom… I bought my first iPhone. Daniel Auteuil advised me the film "The Extraordinary Mr. Rogers", with Tom Hanks in the role of a TV host of my generation ...

And what do you think of TV?

I find the journalists on set and on the ground very courageous. I did not sulk my pleasure in front of the afternoon films, “La Grande Vadrouille”, “Le Corniaud”… It is also my story, I went on all these shootings.

No boredom then?

When you have a hectic life, it's rare to cut two months. I am programmed for a high rate, when I stop, my engine does not run at high speed! I reconnected with friends I hadn't called in a long time. And I made a friend: the rapper Roméo Elvis, brother of the singer Angèle. I decided to invite them with their parents in "Vivement Dimanche", it will be a back-to-school event.

Are you worried about the situation?

I knew very early on that it was not a virus like the others, thanks to my brother Jacques, epidemiologist. I remain optimistic while waiting for the miracle vaccine ... But I feel the suffering of people, the concern of theater directors. Artists who are well established can wait a year ... But for small structures, it's a different story. I can't wait to resume my show “From you to me”. I was to play in Avignon this summer. The stop of this festival is a disaster because many artists start their careers there. Finally, the big winner is TV, with social networks ... She still has a bright future ahead of her.

What about stopping sport, of which you are a fan?

I obviously understand the stop of football. I cross my fingers, I melt the bike, so that the Tour de France takes place at the end of August. And Roland-Garros in September. If so, “Vivement Dimanche” will not resume until after these competitions, in mid-October.

Will you continue?

In principle yes. The return of France Télévisions is postponed to January. I have a prospect until the start of the Tour de France at the end of August, it's already good. Managing this period for such an important house is a terrible headache, I am impressed by the managers of France Télé.

How do you see the future?

They made fun of me because I'm hypochondriac. But after that, the French will become it! I hope they will remember the importance of these people in the shadows: we discovered what a nurse, a resuscitator, a stretcher bearer, a surface technician who disinfects rooms at night… I hope that we will not forget them.
