Netflix has sold countless series in the past few weeks - and users are not at all satisfied with a decision by the streaming service.

  • Netflix discontinued the "Anne with an E" series after three seasons in late 2019 .
  • The last season left some questions unanswered, which should be answered in a sequel.
  • Fans have been fighting the removal for months - and now the resistance is at its peak.

In any case, the decisions to discontinue series are not very popular, because every production has its fans. However, some fan bases are larger and more passionate than others - which Netflix can definitely confirm.

The streaming service decided to abandon the series "Anne with an E" after three seasons. Although the end of the series has been fixed since autumn 2019, users are still violently resisting the premature end. Now there is even a petition that thousands of fans have already signed.

Netflix has sold several series in recent months - including "Anne with an E"

With the large number of series that appear on Netflix every month , it is not surprising that some novelties are canceled prematurely. Recently, the productions "Turn Up Charlie" *, "Messiah" * and "V Wars" * were hit after just one season. The series "Anne with an E" based on the novel "Anne auf Green Gables " has at least three seasons. Even before the latest season was released, the series ended, however, because the production houses Netflix and the broadcaster CBC decided against further cooperation.

However, the companies may not have expected the consequences of their decision: The fans of the series have been fighting against the withdrawal for months. For example, thousands of viewers post comments on CBC and Netflix social media posts calling for season 4. The Guardian even speaks of 13 million tweets sent to the two companies. Due to the flood of news, CBC is said to have recently decided to block all comments related to "Anne with an E" .

But fans don't just turn to Netflix and CBC on the Internet . With thousands of dollars in donations, they funded five billboards placed in Toronto and in Time Square in New York. This shows drawn pictures of the protagonist Anne (Amybeth McNulty) and the appeal to resume shooting the series:

A petition is currently also running on change.org, which has already received over 300,000 signatures (as of April 30, 2020). But are these measures enough to change Netflix and CBC ? In the past, the streaming service continued, for example, the "Lucifer" * series after countless fans demonstrated against being dropped. So there may still be hope for the audience of "Anne with an E" .

Also interesting : Known streaming service will be completely discontinued - that's what users can expect now.
