North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reappeared in public after three weeks of speculation about his health. The South Korean news agency Yonhap reports.
Kim Jong-un cut the ribbon at a fertilizer factory opening ceremony on Friday, North Korean news agency KCNA reported, writing that "all attendees cheered loudly and shouted cheers." Kim had not appeared in public since the Workers' Party politburo meeting on April 11. Media indiscretions, during his absence, had given him seriously ill or even died following a delicate surgery. Rumors, however, always denied by Seoul, who had spoken of fake news ensuring that he had never noticed anything unusual on the border with the North.
