"It is the house of the people, you can not prevent us from entering," chanted the hundred demonstrators grouped outside the front door of the legislative assembly in Lansing, capital of Michigan (United States). Some of them were armed with assault rifles to demand the relaxation of the containment measures imposed in their state.
Among them, members of the "Michigan Freedom Militia", an extremist anti-government group who came to demand the reopening of businesses. Going so far as to compare Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer to Hitler, these pro-arms activists consider it illegal to extend the state of emergency for 28 days, ordered without the consent of the majority assembly.
Michigan authorizes the carrying of weapons in its public places, thus, only temperature controls were required from the demonstrators to enter the compound of the capitol. In the country most affected by the Covid-19 in the world, these activists intend to ignore measures of social distancing.
Since the start of the epidemic, 3,789 people infected with coronavirus have lost their lives in Michigan.
